Another Lakefront Remodel

I performed much of the design and production work for this project while working for Ernst Architects. This private residence, for a retired couple, was greatly in need of reconstruction, especially given today's energy costs. It is now a wonderful place to live, and serves as a vacation spot for their extended family.

The house has now undergone at least three transformations since it was originally built as a small, single-family residence. We were able to solve all the technical problems involved in keeping the boathouse and bedroom additions while replacing the original house.

Although the original house had more wood, we were able to use finishes and lighting to advantage to give the house a pleasant character.
